This Recipe is for preparing at home hotel style Dal Gosht (Lentil and Meat). A popular Mutton main course dish. suitable for most parties.

Serves: 4-5 Persons
Ingredients
4 oz. Channa dal
1 Ib. Lean Meat
2 Medium Onions
2 Cloves Garlic
1 Tea spoon Turmeric
1 Tea spoon Cumin
1 Tea spoon Coriander
½ Tea spoon Ginger
1 Tea spoon Chili
4 oz. Ghee
1 Tea spoon Turmeric
1 Bay leaf
1 inch stick Cinnamon
Salt to taste
3 Table spoons Yoghurt
Preparation
Wash and soak dal in water for 3 hours before cooking. Cut the meat into 1-inch pieces. Slice 1 Onion finely. Grind the other Onion and the Garlic to a paste. Mix in to the paste all the powdered spices and if too dry add a little water.
Heat Ghee and fry the Onions a golden brown. Lower heat and add the Garam Masala bay leaf and cinnamon and fry for 2 minutes. Add the meat and the Yoghurt and mix thoroughly. Add Salt and simmer till the liquid is nearly dry. Add the drained dal and fry for 2 or 3 minutes then put in ½ pint water. Bring to the boil and simmer over low fire, cover till the dal and meat are ready.
Serve hot with rice or chapattis.
