This is a Recipe for Aappe (आप्पे) a Maharashtrian snack dish, ideal for breakfast and tiffin boxes of children.

Serves: 4 Persons
Ingredients
1 Cup Gram Dal (Chana Dal)
½ Cup Rice
¼ Cup Black Gram Dal (Urad Dal)
2 Table spoon Idli Rawa
For Mixing
1 Small size Onion (chopped)
2 Table spoon Coconut (Shredded)
2 Table spoon Coriander
1 Table spoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
1 Tea spoon Green Chili Paste
For the Tadka
½ Table spoon Oil
1 Tea spoon Mustard Seeds
1 Tea spoon Cumin Seeds
¼ Tea spoon Asafoetida
¼ Tea spoon Turmeric Powder
15 Curry Leaves
Salt as per taste
Oil for frying the Aappe
Preparation
Soak in water; Gram Dal, Rice and Black Gram Dal separately for 7-8 hours and then grind it with Water (but batter should be thick like Idli batter) then and add the Idli Rawa in to the batter. Mix it well and keep the batter aside over night.
Prepare the Tadka and add in the batter. Then add Coconut, Coriander, Ginger-Garlic Paste, Chili paste and Salt. Mix it well.
Heat the mould for preparing Aappe and apply some Oil over the mould and pour one-one table spoon batter in to the mould add some Oil around the Aappe and cover with a plate and roast them till colour change in to brown. Then turn the Aappe over and roast for two-three minutes.
Serve hot with Tomato Sauce.
