This is a Recipe for preparing at home sweet and tasty traditional Maharashtrian Style Masala Doodh (Masala Milk) for Sharad Purnima or Khojagiri Purnima as this auspicious day in known as in Maharashtra. On this day Hindus celebrate Kaumudi or Moonlight to mark the end of the Rainy Season and the commencement of the Autumn Season, which is the Season for harvesting Crops.
Sharad Purnima is also considered to a most auspicious astrological Yoga by Hindu astrologers. Hindus believe that the Wealth Goddess Laxmi Mata enters your home on the night of the Khojagiri Purnima as hence some devotees observe a fast on this day.
The recipe of the authentic Maharashtrian Sweet Masala Milk given by me is in a simple step-by-step manner so as to make the preparation as easy as possible.
Masala Doodh for Sharad Purnima Preparation Time : 25 minutes
Serving : 5 Persons
Ingredients
1 Liter Milk (Buffalo)
1 ½ Cup Sugar
8-10 Cashew nuts
8-10 Almonds
7-8 Pista
¼ Teaspoon Nutmeg Powder
1 Teaspoon Cardamom Powder
8-10 sticks Saffron
Preparation:
Prepare a coarse powder of the Almonds, Cashew nuts and Pista.
Grind the Nutmeg and Cardamom.
Boil the Milk for 10 minutes on a slow flame.
Add the Sugar and boil it again for 5-7 minutes on a slow flame.
Then add the Cashew nut, Badam, Pista Powder, Nutmeg, Cardamom Powder and Saffron, mix it well.
Serve hot after garnishing with dry fruit powder and Saffron.
