This is a recipe for making at home sweet and tasty authentic Maharashtrian Style Sakharechi Puran Poli or a simple variation of the traditional Puran Poli without Jaggery, using only sugar.

Serves: 6-7 Puran Poli
Ingredients
250 grams Chana Dal
250 grams Sugar
259 grams Maida
50 grams Pure Ghee
50 grams Cooking Oil
1 small Katori Rice Flour
Elaichi Powder as per taste
Salt as per taste
Preparation
Wash the Chana Dal and cook it by adding half a liter of water and while it is cooking add Salt as per taste.
After the Chana Dal is cooked, remove it from the flame and drain the water.
Then, add the Sugar to the Chana Dal and cook it on a low flame until all the water evaporates and it becomes it becomes slightly thick.
Remove from the flame and add the Elaichi Powder and grind it in a Puran Yantra.
Then, add a little bit of water to the Maida and knead to prepare a slightly wet Dough.
Prepare equal sized balls from the Dough.
Put the Oil in a small bottom vessel and keep the Dough Balls in the vessel.
Roll the Dough Balls into small Puri Shapes and insert the Puran Mixture in the Puris and then close the Puris with your hand.
Spread the Rice Flour over a Chapati Board and roll the Maida Balls into round Chapati sized shapes. The Puran Poli does not stick on the Chapati Board due to the use of Rice Flour.
Finally, roast the Puran Poli on a low flame.
Spread the Pure Ghee on both sides of the Puran Poli and serve.
